Learning Lab Amsterdam

Key learnings:

Students are capable of incredible transitions and accomplishments if they are given the:

1. freedom to find what makes them tick,

2. the safety to fail and connect,

3. highly competent guidance on their journey. Guidance needs to include many different roles, the ability to sitch between mental models and modes of being, and connect personal development to scientific, project or content development. The ablity to connect people and organisations to what is emerging is a must.

Key process elements:

Reinvent methods for learning experiences each time tailored to the real need of each group

Building a field of trust and connection through a modern "rite of passage" , tailored to the purpose of the learning journey

Success looks like:

98% of students report a life changing experience

9 out of 10 universities that applied for government innovation funding now includes some kind of reference to the Lab

The intervention reached all levels of the Dutch educational system

Student's initiatives are bold, systemic, and many of them have a definite impact on society.

Help needed:

Consolidate experience and connect partners into a next level project

Big idea:

If the next generation has to reinvent virtually every system n which they live, what kind of education do they need? As a response to that question The Learning Lab developed a highly experimental learning environment for the honours students of all three universities of Amsterdam to find out.
