Martin Kalungu-Banda

Martin works as Global HIV/AIDS Leadership Advisor for Oxfam GB based in Oxford UK. He is also a Core-Faculty Member of the University of Cambridge Programme for Industry’s Business and Environment Programme.
Between March 2005 and May 2006, he served as Special Adviser to the President of the Republic of Zambia as. Until March 2005, he worked for Oxfam GB, Oxford, as Senior Policy Advisor and head of the private sector team.
At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Zambia, he conducted leadership-training programmes for the Government Ministers and Permanent Secretaries in Zambia. Martin has also trained a number of business leaders, government officials, diplomats and civil society leaders in Southern African countries.
Previously, he worked for BP – Africa as Regional Social Performance Manager based in Cape Town. Prior to this, he worked as Corporate Affairs Manager for BP – Zambia. From 1995 to 1999 he taught Business Ethics, a course that he designed and introduced, at the University of Zambia.
Martin is the author of the book “Leading Like Madiba: Leadership Lessons from Nelson Mandela” published by Juta Publishers of Cape Town.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs from the University of Warwick, UK; a double major bachelor’s degree in Development Studies and Philosophy from the University of Zambia and a diploma in Philosophy and Anthropology from the Zambia National Seminary.
